Luke 16:1-8. Irresponsible Steward. We are called to give an account to God. Bring in the account. I hear that you are not a responsible steward. We are accountable for all our free actions. If we are wasteful with God’s property we will be punished. And God will punish those who bury talents. (We need to plan wisely with foresight.) It is heard of King Frederick of Germany. One day he went to visit a jail in his country. He went around and asked all of them their crime. All of them except one said they were all innocent and they landed there because of somebody else’s fault. But one person said he stole from another person and that is why he was there. The king said him be freed from the jail. He said it is not fair that a criminal should stay with all the other innocent people. Luke 14:1-6 : Observance of Sabbath. Is it lawful to do good on Sabbath or not? Show the children a clock. Ask them to tell the time. Ask them how many seconds are in a day (86400). How do you spend those 86400 seconds? How many hours are in a day… Last night at 12.00 midnight God put a bundle of seconds in your bag… and you grabbed some of those and slept…. Morning you picked up some more nearly 8 hrs and came to school. ….Each moment that bundle was depleting... You cannot stop that flow out. We don’t have a lot of time. God has a lot of time. For God 1 day and 1000 years are the same. 24 hrs format: Military, Railway or Continental time. What did you do on Halloween? Did trick or treat? Why don’t you do that today? They say today is not Halloween. So we don’t do it. Yes you can trick people but they won't treat you today. The same way Sabbath is a special day.
