Luke 14:1-6 : Observance of Sabbath.

Is it lawful to do good on Sabbath or not?

Show the children a clock. Ask them to tell the time.

Ask them how many seconds are in a day (86400). How do you spend those 86400 seconds?

How many hours are in a day…

Last night at 12.00 midnight God put a bundle of seconds in your bag… and you grabbed some of those and slept…. Morning you picked up some more nearly 8 hrs and came to school. ….Each moment that bundle was depleting... You cannot stop that flow out.

We don’t have a lot of time. God has a lot of time. For God 1 day and 1000 years are the same.

24 hrs format: Military, Railway or Continental time. What did you do on Halloween? Did trick or treat? Why don’t you do that today?

They say today is not Halloween. So we don’t do it. Yes you can trick people but they won't treat you today.

The same way Sabbath is a special day. You are called to do certain things on Sabbath/ Sunday.

Who can tell what shall we do on Sunday?

Jesus says there no time for doing bad or evil things. But all the time is suitable to do good. There is no time that we are not called to do good. Therefore not a single second we are allowed to do bad, evil or sin.

What do you think why Jesus healed the man with dropsy on the Sabbath?

Because he wanted to teach us that we are supossed to do good all the time. 

Jesus was on the move all the time and he was not going to be the next day in this place. So, if he didn't heal him today this man won't get a chance to be helped by Jesus.

What are the conditions we are allowed to “break” the Sabbath then?

Ask them to tell.

Nothing is allowed except those things that give glory and honor to God. 

Nurses and Fire fighters…. By saving and protecting the life of others they give glory to God.

Show them the cellphone. Tell them

Do you keep the Sabbath? How many times do we miss the Sunday Mass and go for ball games or running competitions? Do you think those can be held off... And if it is the only chance, do you pray all day while you are doing that activity? Do you ask forgiveness for the times you miss honoring God on Sunday.? When the parents don't go to Church on Sunday do you ask them to take you to Mass? Do you idle away rest of the time after the Mass on Sunday and be a couch potato?

Think of the ways you can honor God on Sabbath.
